hello!
Thank you for taking an interest in the thought, articles, and exploits presented in this blog —兔食: Rabbit Food. My name is Jacob Morrin. I graduated in 2010 from the University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in political science. My interests span both comparative politics and international security, but I am particularly interested in China and Chinese politics. I spent the summer of 2006 studying Mandarin at the Harvard-Beijing Academy in Beijing, China and beginning in 2008 I spent another year studying at Fudan University in Shanghai, China. One area I have devoted particular attention to in China, and the topic of my senior thesis, is investigating how state-run Internet censorship influences and manipulates the online discursive activity of Chinese “netizens.” Aside from my academic pursuits, I enjoy playing Ultimate Frisbee, running, and reading.
While most of my exploits have taken place in one ivory tower or another, as of July 19, 2010, I will be stepping out of the tower and on to the dirt path in order to fulfill the role of Peace Corps Volunteer in Madagascar. Once in Madagascar, I will be participating in and contributing to an education program meant to benefit the youth of the country.
As fulfilling my role as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Madagascar is currently my primary concern, at this point 兔食: Rabbit Food is in large part dedicated to documenting this experience and sharing it with my friends, family, and any others who may be interested. That said, however, I’m always interested in sharing with others the things I deem interesting: books, quotations, photographs.
Please enjoy, and thanks for reading.
warmly,
- jacob.
